Rubye Reeves

Funeral services for Rubye Reeves were held Jan. 3, 2001 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Montclair, California, with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Covina Hills. Mrs. Reeves died on December 29, 2000 at the age of 85.

Rubye Buddenberg was born Jan. 12, 1915 on the family farm near Castalia, the youngest child of Henry and Bertha (Roth) Buddenberg. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia. Rubye attended the rural school near her home, then Castalia High School and graduated from Postville High School in 1934. She taught in the rural schools of Winneshiek County until her marriage to Dale E. Reeves in 1937.

The family moved to California in 1944. Rubye taught 5th and 6th grades at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Pomona from 1953 until her retirement in 1978.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dale in 1985, her parents, parents-in-law Earl and Alta Reeves of Castalia, her sister Amelia Burt, four brothers, Harvey Elmer, Wilbur and Melvin.

Survivors include her two daughters, Judith (William) Soult of Pomona, CA, and Constance (Mark) Schulenburg of Montclair, CA, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Amy Buddenberg of Mesa, AZ, four nephews and six nieces.
