Dorothy Russett

Dorothy Russett was born to parents Roy and Daisy Kneeskern on Oct. 18, 1910 in Frankville. She died on Feb. 23, 1992 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. after a brief illness. She was 81.

Dorothy was a graduate of Postville High School. She was married to Daniel Russett on July 29, 1929 in Cedar Rapids. The couple lived in Frankville until January of 1943, when they moved to Calmar. He died on June 3, 1974. They had 10 children.

Surviving are sons Randal of Minnetonka, Minn.; Alan of Fairbank; Donald of Bloomington, Minn.; Keith of Calmar; and daughters Janice Schultz of Postville; Marilyn Breitsprecher of Castalia; Beverly Ruston of LaCrosse, Wis.; and Kathleen Gerber of Inver Grove Heights, Minn. Also surviving are her brother, Dean Kneeskern of Yuma, Ariz.; her sisters-in-law Agnes Blumhagen of Castalia, Grace Russett of Postville, Lorraine Russett of Waukon, and Mary [?] Russett of Ulysses, Kan.; and her 31 grandchildren and 23 [?] great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband; her son, Merlin; and her grandson, Randal Girard Russett.

She enjoyed her many friends and family. She always had a cup of coffee and some goodies for them. She also enjoyed reading, music, needlework and card clubs. She will be remembered for her doughnuts and for the crocheted afghans her grandchildren treasure. Her grandchildren and her great grandchildren were the light of her life.

The funeral service was held at the Calmar Lutheran Church on Feb. 26, Rev. Ruth Lovejoy officiating. Burial was at the Frankville cemetery. Pallbearers were John, Dan and Thomas Russett, Kent Schultz, Merlin Stephan, Grant Breitsprecher, Ben Ruston and Andrew Gerber.
