CASTALIA RESIDENT DIES SUDDENLY LAST SUNDAY
Preston Reeves was born October 19, 1862, in Woolworth county, Wisconsin, and departed this life on September 23, 1928, having attained the age of 66 years, 11 months and 28 days.
When he was two years old his parents moved to Iowa, settling on a farm near Castalia. Two years later, when he was only four years old, his father died, leaving the mother to care for him while he grew to manhood.
In 1883 he was united in marriage with Ivy Burns, and after spending four more years on his mother's farm he and his wife moved onto his present place in Bloomfield township, where the rest of his life was spent.
In October 1902 he united with the Presbyterian church at Frankville on confession of faith in God. About three years ago he was stricken with creeping paralysis, and although this disease rendered him practically helpless, he bore his affliction with patience and cheerfulness.
Mr. Reeves was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and a true friend. Those who are left to mourn his departure are his wife, daughter Leo at home, his son Earl and family of Castalia and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held at 11 o'clock a. m. Tuesday at the home in the presence of many friends, Rev. D. F. Myers officiating. A solo, "Some Time We'll Understand", was sung with much appreciation, inasmuch as his death was caused by his own act, due to grief over his affliction. Interment was made in Bloomfield cemetery.
