Dwayne Reisner
A funeral mass for Dwayne Reisner was conducted Friday, September 6, 1985 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Postville by Rev. John Moran. Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in St. John Neps. Cemetery at Ft. Atkinson.
Dwayne Joseph Reisner, son of Waldo F. and Ida (Doubek) Reisner, was born July 30, 1917 at Calmar. He died Monday, September 2 at his home in Castalia.
He attended the St. John Neps. Elementary School and the Public High School at Ft. Atkinson.
March 4, 1946 he was married to Helen Rita Balk at St. Luke's Catholic Church at St. Lucas. They were the parents of three children. They have lived in Castalia from 1946 until the present time. Dwayne had been employed as the Manager of the Frudden Lumber Company in Castalia for the past 42 years.
Dwayne served during WW II from October 8, 1941 to September 23, 1945 in the 36th Infantry Division Band. During this time her served in the following theaters: Naples, Foggia, Rome, Arno, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the following honors: European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, a Silver Battle Star, the Bronze Service Arrow Head, 5 Overseas Silver Battle Stars, and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a member of the American Legion, Post No. 672, the VFW Post No. 9125, the Catholic Order of Foresters and a member of the Calmar, Ft. Atkinson and Spillville Bands. He had also served as Fire Chief of the Castalia Fire Department.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Helen, who died November 9, 1962.
Surviving is a son, Dwayne E. and his wife Lois of Waterloo, two daughters, Shirley (Mrs. Merlin Barta) of Sterling, IL and Kathryn (Mrs. Scott Sandberg) of Hamel, MN, 11 grandchildren, a brother, Robert of Rossville, MN and a sister, Madonna (Mrs. Ingman Mickleson) of Madelia, MN.
Casketbearers were Eugene Szabo, Paul Pavlovec, Raymond Nienhaus, Lyle Bodensteiner, Roger Engelhardt and David Reisner.
