Louise Green

Mrs. Louise V. (Skippy) Sharpe Green, age 83, of Alma, Georgia, died September 24, 1995 at her residence after an extended illness. Skippy was a native of Roebuck, South Carolina, but she had lived in Alma, Georgia since 1936.

Skippy was Director of Nurses at Bacon County Hospital for many years, and a Bacon County school nurse for several years. She and her late husband, Dr. William Sharpe, established the first hospital in Bacon County in 1937. Skippy attended the Alma United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters and two sons: Mrs. Patricia Louise Lee of Alma, Mrs. Betty Cabaniss of Atlanta, William Walter (Bill) Sharpe of Alma and Dr. Bruce Sharpe of Alma. She had five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In 1975 Skippy married Kenneth M. Green of Castalia. Mr. Green preceded her in death. Skippy became a part of Ken's family and will be missed by his children: K. Ted Green of Eldridge, Ruth Elaine Green Ryan of Lansing, and Dr. Ed Green of Indio, California. She was "Grandma Skippy" to Ken's 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Ken and Skippy spent summers in Iowa at Maplewood Farm and winters in Alma, Georgia. Skippy's death is a loss to both communities.
