Services Held For S. A. Green

Stephen Allen Green, 77, of Castalia passed away of a heart ailment July 4, 1961 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Postville. He was stricken early Friday morning and was moved to the hospital Sunday morning where he was suddenly taken Tuesday afternoon at 5:15.

He was born May 5, 1884 near Castalia where he spent all his life. His parents were Melvin Green and Eliza Allen Green. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

On January 1, 1907 he was married to Grace Sphar. To this union two children were born. His wife passed away February 7, 1911 leaving him with the small children.

On January 30, 1918 he was married to Bonnie Tatro who survives.

Also surviving are his two children, Clarence of Castalia and Ruth, Mrs. Carl Amundson of Chatfield, Minnesota, five grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The funeral was held at the United Brethren Church, Castalia, on July 7. Burial was in Pleasant View cemetery.
