Winn Rites

Fred C. Winn was born September 19, 1864 at Castalia, a son of John and Mary Winn. He spent the early years of his life in Castalia and on October 25, 1891, was married to Miss Alma Jane Banning.

They established their home in Castalia where Mr. Winn operated a grocery store and hotel. In 1905 they moved to Ossian, where Mr. Winn worked as a carpenter in this vicinity. He also was employed as a railroad carpenter by the Milwaukee line.

Mrs. Winn passed away April 25, 1949.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Hattie Stanley, of Cedar Rapids.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, three brothers, Charles, Lester and Walter and two sisters, Ella Harvey and Mina Bloxham.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Schmitz funeral chapel in Ossian by the Rev. L. L. Martin of Castalia. Burial was made in Bloomfield cemetery.
