Rites Held For Carrie Hughes
Funeral services were held at the Frankville Community Church on Wednesday afternoon, January 18, for Mrs. Carrie Hughes, who passed away January 16 at Postville Hospital after a few days of illness. The Rev. Robert Reynolds officiated. Burial was in Frankville cemetery.
Carrie Hughes, daughter of John and Rachel Davis French, was born August 20, 1880 near Frankville. She died at Postville Hospital January 16, 1961 at the age of 80 years. She was married to Irvin Hughes on January 11, 1903 at Decorah. She lived her entire life in the Frankville community.
She is survived by a son, Clifford; and a grandson, David of Decorah, whom she raised from infancy; a grandson, Dick Hughes and seven great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Irvin, died three years ago. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and one brother.
Those attending the services from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bennett and Mr. and Mrs. Loren Snitker, of Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Kneeskern of Waukon; Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Monroe of Castalia; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin McConnell of Bluffton; Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Lennon, Mrs. John Snitker and Mrs. Ida Felke, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Crabtree, and Clarence Crabtree, all of Decorah.
