Masonic Rites For Irvin Hughes

Irvin R. Hughes, son of Edward and Debbie Kendall Hughes, was born July 26, 1881, in Minnesota. He died at the Postville Community Hospital Tuesday, October 29, 1957 at the age of 76 years.

The Hughes family moved to Frankville when Irvin was five years of age. Irvin Hughes attended the Frankville school.

On January 11, 1903 he was married to Carrie French at Decorah.

Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and a sister.

He is survived by his wife, a son Clifford of Frankville, two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Irvin Hughes was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Decorah. He was a director of the Nordness Telephone Company.

Mr. Hughes spent his entire life in the Frankville vicinity as a house mover and well driller. He also sawed lumber and operated threshing and corn shredding machines.

Funeral services were held at the Community Presbyterian Church of Frankville, Friday, November 1, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Walter T. Martin in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Frankville cemetery.

Henry A Glover of Decorah conducted Masonic service at the grave with member of the Postville and Decorah Masonic lodges attending.
