ORAN CLIFFORD HUGHES

Oran Clifford Hughes passed away Wednesday morning, August 25. He was the son of Irvin and Carrie French Hughes of Frankville. The deceased was born February 26, 1905 at Frankville, where he spent most of his life.

On February 22, 1928 he married Jerrine Allen of Frankville. To this union two sons were born, Dickie Niel and David Lee, both of Frankville.

Mr. Hughes was a well driller for many years, also helping saw lumber and moving buildings. His wife died in 1946. He spent one year in Oakdale Sanitorium (sic). On February 9, 1957 he was married to Helen Megan of Moline, Illinois. They moved to Eldora where he was employed in the Boys Training school until he became ill about a week ago.

Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his wife, Jerrine, and his parents. Surviving are his wife, Helen; two sons; eight grandchildren; seven stepchildren, Mrs. M. J. Steward, Mrs. Eldon Veld and Mrs. John Goodman, all of Decorah; Mrs. John Walen of Tucson, Arizona; Dr. Robert Larson of Des Moines; Mrs. J. B. Harris of Algona, and Mrs. Warren Luse of Davenport; 24 step grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Eldora with burial in Frankville. The Rev Knox of Eldora, conducted rites at Eldora; the Rev. J. A. Sullivan conducted graveside rites.
