Services Held for Otto Hughes
Funeral services for Elmer Otto Hughes, 85, were held Thursday, Dec. 20, 1984 at 11 a.m. at the Frankville Community Presbyterian Church. The Rev. James Elvig officiated. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Frankville Cemetery.
Elmer Otto Hughes, son of Evart James and Ida (Schuette) Hughes, was born July 7, 1899 at Boscobel, WI. He died Dec. 17 at Community Memorial Hospital in Postville.
Otto's father died when he was an infant and his family came to Postville to be near his mother's family. Later they moved to the Tripoli area where he attended school.
April 14, 1920 he was married to Elsie Linderbaum at Decorah. To this union two children were born. They farmed in the Frankville area most of their lives.
Otto was a member of the Frankville Community Presbyterian Church and served as a trustee and as an elder. He had been a member of the Frankville Cheese Factory board of directors for 27 years. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie, a son, Evart, and a daughter, Darlene (Mrs. Byron Schultz), both of Postville, 9 grandchildren, and a sister, Hilda Beadle, Marion.
