PIONEER DAYS-HESPER TOWNSHIP 1851-1941

Benjamin F. Allen came here in 1861. He married Caroline Battery, and to them were born three daughters. In his latter years he went to Nantuckett, Mass., where he died in 1905.

James Hutchinson was born in the state of North Caroline, February 20, 1813, and when a young man he went to Ohio and then to Michigan. In the year 1854 he with his family came to Hesper. He hired Joseph Griswold to build him a home in the village, where they lived for many years, but later left Hesper and went to the Pacific coast.
