PIONEER DAYS-HESPER TOWNSHIP 1851-1941

A pioneer minister of the Society of Friends at Hesper was William Westgate. He was born in Raisin Lewanee county, Michigan, the son of Syleevus and Esther Westgate. He was united in holy wed-lock to Miss Lucy A Rowe on the 26th of December, 1854. They came to Hesper where they lived a great many years, and were permitted to share the joys and sorrows of life for more than 52 years. They moved to Lanesboro about two years before his death which occurred on May 27, 1907.
