PIONEER DAYS-HESPER TOWNSHIP 1851-1941

Born in Norway in 1837 and came to Iowa with his wife in 1860, settling in Hesper township. He was one of the earliest blacksmiths in the village of Hesper, working with Mr. C. J. Tamnas. He owned a farm in the northeast corner of Hesper township, where Martin Folstad now lives. Mr. Folstad and his wife had no children of their own, but they adopted two children.
