PIONEER DAYS-HESPER TOWNSHIP 1851-1941

Amos Earl, one of the oldest pioneers who blazed the trail in the early 50's settled near the village in 1858. He was a very good Christian man, being a birthright member of the Society of Friends. It was his lot to pass throught the trying times in the history of the church in New England in his early manhood. He was an active member of the Friends church of Hesper and was clerk of the Quarterly meetings for a great many years. He was married twice, the last time to Rebecca Painter. At the time of his death he was in his 80th year.
