B. M. Lein, a dealer in general merchandise, was born in Norway in 1838, and was a tailor by trade. He came to the United States in the year 1867 and spent the first summer in Allamakee county, Iowa. He then moved to the Village of Hesper and established a business as a tailor. After residing there one year he bought property and built a home. In the summer of 1882 he added a new and complete stock of general merchandise and conducted his tailoring business along with this in the William Cook building, and later in the Jones building. In 1860 he was married to Miss Williman in Norway.
