PIONEER DAYS-HESPER TOWNSHIP 1851-1941
Jocum Nelson, a native of the Land of the Midnight Sun, Norway, was one of the sturdy pioneers of this community. He came here in the early fifties. His wife's name was Elizabeth. She was also from Norway. The two were married after they arrived in the United States. They homesteaded and built the place where their son, Martin, now lives. A daughter, Sarah, also makes her home on this place, they being the only two children who remain out of a family of eight children. They were churchly interested and ranked among the pioneers in the church and religious activities in this section of the county.
