Dolores Elsie Fjelstad
(August 21, 1925 - April 19, 2010)

Dolores Elsie (Quest) Fjelstad, 84, of Lake Mills, Iowa, passed away on Monday April 19, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Mason City, Iowa.

Dolores was born August 21, 1925, in Pittsburgh, PA., the only child of Thomas and Elsie Quest. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1943. Dolores met Ray Fjelstad in 1943 during the war. They were united in marriage on July 11, 1944. She moved to Iowa in 1945 and resided on the family farm. In 1976, she moved to Lake Mills after Ray passed away. Dolores and Ray had six children. Dolores worked for Winnebago Industries for 22 years. She retired in 1989. After retiring, Dolores began delivering motor homes across the country because she loved to travel.

Dolores is survived by her 5 living children: Donna Cooke, Clear Lake, IA; Diane Longwell, Broken Arrow, OK; Tom Fjelstad (Peggy) Newton, IA; Deb Christianson (Terry) Lake Mills, IA; Tim Fjelstad (Rachel) Johnston, IA; son-in-law, Clair Hengesteg (Fay), Northwood, IA; 12 grandchildren: Ronald Cooke Jr. (Diane) Minneapolis, MN; Dan Cooke (Holly) Clear Lake, IA; Tami Willy (Marcus) Winston Salem, NC; Cory Hengesteg (Gretchen) Northwood, IA; Chris Hengesteg (Christine) Philadelphia, PA; Kristin Dahle (Erin) Sarasota, FL; Kelly Dahle, Lake Mills, IA; Kara Dahle (Tim) Lincoln, NE; Tiffany Mark (Dustin) Albert Lea, MN; Derek Christianson (Amy) Lake Mills, IA; Katherine Fjelstad, Johnston, IA, and Elizabeth Fjelstad, Johnston, IA; 11 great grand children: Dylan, Emma, Addyson, Cooper, Ethan, Kaitlyn, Kamden, Kendell, Victoria, Caleb and Haley; brothers-in-law: Vernon Fjelstad (Lorraine) Albert Lea, MN; Wayne Fjelstad (Gloria) Iowa City, IA; her two close friends: Majella Flugum, Lake Mills, IA, and Marilyn Van Den Bosch, Lake Mills, IA, and close childhood friend, Violet Byrer, Pittsburgh, PA.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, DeLynne Hengesteg, granddaughter, Rhonda Cooke, and son-in-law, Robert Longwell.

Dolores will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 23, 2010, at Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, Pastor Bill Peters officiating. Burial will take place at Winnebago Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 22, 2010, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street in Lake Mills and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
