Betty Jean Thompson
(June 8, 1946 - April 22, 2010)

Betty J. Thompson, age 63, of Lake Mills, died Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Good Samaritan Center in Forest City, Iowa.

She was born on June 8, 1946, in Forest City, Iowa, to parents Dorn and Jeanette Marie (Johnson) Thompson. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City. Betty attended and graduated from Glendale High School in Glendale, California. Following her graduation, she moved back to north Iowa.

Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed decorating, attending rummage sales, taking care of her two cats, and most of all, she loved her family. She had a kind heart and gentle spirit, especially when it came to her granddaughter, Jazzlynn.

She will be missed and remembered by Dean Ulve of Lake Mills, IA; son, Brad Thompson and granddaughter, Jazzlynn Thompson of Mason City, IA; Jazzlynn’s mother, LeAnn Thompson, also of Mason City, IA; and seven siblings, Debra Kvammen of Lake Mills, IA, Doris Hatland of Lake Mills, IA, Violet (Lawrence) Loeschen of Woden, IA, DeEtta (Tim) Buns of Wilmington, NC, Denny Thompson of Thompson, IA, Keith Thompson of Duncan, IA, and Robert (Cheryl) Thompson of Mason City, IA. Betty is also survived by Dean Ulve’s loving family and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruth Gunn; brother, Nels Thompson; a brother-in-law, Jeffrey Kvammen; and Dean’s parents, Adeline and Vernon Ulve.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 26, 2010, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Pastor David E. Jordon officiating. Burial will be in Salem Memorial Cemetery, rural Lake Mills.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 25, 2010, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street in Lake Mills and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
