Mary Albers, age 95, of Lake Mills, died on Sunday, December 14, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, North Iowa, in Mason City, Iowa.

Mary (Willert) Albers, was born on July 28, 1913, near Thompson, Iowa, to Carl and Emma (Johnson) Willert. She attended school in the Thompson area.

The couple owned and operated Mary’s Café in Hartland, Minnesota, and worked as custodians at the Waseca High School in Waseca, Minnesota, prior to moving to Lake Mills in 1976. In Lake Mills, Mary worked as a waitress at the coffee shop in addition to volunteering with bingo at the Senior Citizens Center and helping when needed at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Mary’s hobbies included reading and gardening. Moreover, she loved cats. She, also, enjoyed spending time with her friends, playing cards or bingo. Above all, however, Mary’s love for her family came first.

She will be fondly remembered by her children, Maynard (Mary) Albers, of Owatonna, Minnesota, Marcene (Walt) Harms, of Holyoke, Colorado, Kathy (Dean) Richardson, of Freeborn, Minnesota, and Jean (Floyd) Fuller, of Lake Mills, Iowa; her grandchildren, John Albers, Julie Mielke, Rodney Perry, Steven Stennes, Jennifer Thorson, Anthony and Anthonett Fuller, Tracie Lutgens, Troy and Teresa Rosacker, and Grace Larimer; many great and great-great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Rhondi Albers, of Florida; and three sisters, Irine Peterson, of Thompson, Iowa, Agnes Thompson, of Cambridge, Minnesota, and Emma Knapper, of Thompson, Iowa; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill in 2001; her son, Kenneth Albers; her grandson, James Albers; her granddaughter, Cindy Sing; her great grandson, Brian Croe; six brothers, Henry, Johnny, Carl, Elmer, Fred, and Walter; and three sisters, Margaret, Gladys, and Pearl.
