Joyce "Jay" C. Moen
June 9, 1935 - November 11, 2014Joyce “Jay” C. Moen, 79, formerly of Forest City, died on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Jay was born in Forest City, Iowa, on June 9, 1935, a son of Carl and Stella (Helgeland) Moen. He graduated from Forest City High School in 1953 and attended Waldorf College. During the Korean War, he served in the US Army. Living in the twin cities, he worked as a lumber salesman and as a machinist. He enjoyed his family and friends and the times he spent with them. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Jim (Maria) Moen; his daughter, Tamre (Fox) Moen; his grandchildren, Bryan, Jessica, David, McKena, and Rachel; his brother, Kenton (Marge) Moen; and his sister, Fern Chandler; as well as by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Gene and Bruce Moen; and his niece, Jeanne Moen.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Forest City United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Layton officiating. Inurnment will take place in Oakland Cemetery, Forest City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jay Moen memorial fund in care of his family.
