(June 14, 1961 - June 18, 2014)Carol Ann Throne, 53, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at her parents’ home in rural Scarville, Iowa.
Carol was born on June 14, 1961, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, a daughter of Richard and Karen Throne. She shared her birthday with her maternal grandfather, Henry Sunde. Baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church, Vinje, she graduated from Lake Mills High School with the “Class of 1979.”
Carol loved sports and played college softball for Edison Community College, Fort Myers, Florida. Then, she earned a baccalaureate degree in business and marketing from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. Subsequently, her independent spirit led her to make her home in many places including Mankato, Topeka, Minneapolis, Ft. Myers, Kansas City, San Diego, Salt Lake City, Mission Viejo, Pepin, and Chicago. Throughout her career, she was employed with the Kansas City Royals, Hallmark Corporation, Pepsi Cola, and First Data Corporation.
Carol treasured her family. More than just an aunt to her ten nieces and nephews, she knew that neither distance nor frequency had to hamper celebrating life’s milestones. In 2007, she was blessed with two sons, Danilo and Angel, from Bogotá, Colombia. She was a loving and caring mother, and they brought her much joy and fulfillment. Having made their home in Bella Vista, Arkansas, they attended Bella Vista Christian Church.
She is survived by her sons, Danny and Angel, of Lake Mills, Iowa; her parents, Richard and Karen, of Scarville, Iowa; her brothers and sisters, Michael (Melanie), of Scarville, Iowa, Robin (Kent), of Le Claire, Iowa, Merna, of Bokeelia, Florida; Brian (Deb), of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Teresa (Robert) Feldmann, of Williamsburg, Iowa; her nieces and nephews, Christopher (Sara), of Lake Mills, Iowa, Taylor, Matthew, Zachary, and Kristyn, of Scarville, Iowa, Sarah (Decker) Throne-Ploehn, of Davenport, Iowa, Jeremi, of Thompson, Iowa, Justin Aanrud (fiancée, Emily Meier), of Williamsburg, Iowa; Jessica Feldmann (fiancé Cody Gabriel), of Parnell, Iowa, and Jordan Feldmann, of Williamsburg, Iowa; her great-nephew, Peyton; and her great-niece, Alana.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the Bethel Lutheran Church, Vinje, Iowa, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday evening, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, Vinje, Iowa.
