FOREST CITY -- Ruth O. Olson, age 95, of Forest City, died Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at the Titonka Care Center in Titonka, Iowa.

Ruth Overa Olson, the third of nine children, was born on June 13, 1912, to Carl and Sarah (Tweeten) Gustafson in Mt. Valley Township, Winnebago County, Iowa. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at the Winnebago Lutheran Church.

On January 3, 1932, she married Kenneth Olson. Together, they farmed near Miller, Iowa, until 1968 when they moved to their new home near Forest City. After retiring, she and Kenneth delivered motor homes and wintered in Texas. After Kenneth passed away in 1973, Ruth continued to live in their new home until she moved into Forest City. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Miller and later of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City.

Ruth enjoyed family gatherings, being with friends, entertaining, and growing flowers. A long-time member of the Happy Birthday Club, the Extension, the Church Circle, and the Sr. Citizen's Center, she also served as a 4-H leader.

In 2005, Ruth moved to Forest Plaza and in March of 2007 to the Titonka Care Center where she passed away on August 7, 2007.

Ruth is survived by three daughters: Janice (Morris) Kluver, of Forest City; Yvonne Rippentrop, of Titonka, and Marcia (Irvin) Milbrandt, of Elmore, Minnesota; nine grandchildren;, nineteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Charlotte Nelson, of Forest City; a brother, Clemmit Gustafson, and his wife, Elaine, of Wal-Cott, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Orva Gustafson, of Lake Mills.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; her son-in-law, Roger Rippentrop; her brothers, Gustaf, Cleo, James, and Victor; a brother in infancy; and a sister, Margaret Nyhus.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 10, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Wayne Hagen officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Forest City. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 9, 2007, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home and an hour prior to services at the church.
