Erwin Lee Naser
July 17, 1944 - June 12, 2019

Erwin Lee Naser, age 74, of Lake Mills, died at his home on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.

Erwin was born on July 17, 1944, in Britt, Iowa, to Cecil and Sophia (Sillman) Naser. He attended and then graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1962. Following his education, Erwin helped his dad on the farm. In 1964, he became an Army National Guard officer with the 1133rd Transportation Company. After his honorable discharge in May of 1971, he drove truck for Max Brones, Larson Manufacturing, and later for area farmers hauling grain. He retired from Larson’s in 1999.

He wed Victoria Christian, and to their marriage, two sons were born: Jerad and Jeffrey. Their marriage, however, later ended in divorce. On September 30, 1977, Erwin married Diane Peterson. They, subsequently, had three children: Justin, Shelly, and Sherry. Even though Erwin and Diane divorced in 2015, she remained a friend, continuing to help him through the last few years.

When not working, Erwin enjoyed following the Green Bay Packers, listening to Willie Nelson, and downing a good shot of whiskey. He had an unusual sense of humor, calling every woman he ever met “Cindy,” giving the grandkids nicknames, and always wondering and asking everyone (even strangers) “are you still mad at me?”.

Survivors include Diane Naser, of Joice, Iowa; his children: Jeff and Justin (Candida) Naser, of Lake Mills, Shelly (Richard) Rye, of Hanlontown, Iowa, and Sherry (Dana) Maakestad, of Ellsworth, Iowa; his grandchildren: Aaron, Liah, Anthony, Shawn, Ryan, Tre, Gavin, Audrey, Evelyn, Kimber, and Louis; a great-grandson, Jayce; a brother, Cecil Naser, Jr.; two sisters, Shirley (Dan) Coppenbarger, of Show Low, Arizona, and Gloria Severson, of Story City, Iowa; and an aunt Dorothy Shelton, of Story City, Iowa; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jerad, in 1987; three brothers: Wayne, Eugene, and Larry Naser; and three sisters: Blanche Monson, Joy Riggs, and Beverly Raye.

A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, June 16, 2019, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills. Cremation will follow with inurnment at a later date.
