Marylyn JoAnn (Olson) Langfald was born on October 15, 1932, in rural Leland, Iowa, to Melvin and Julia (Martinson) Olson. Baptized and confirmed at the Center Lutheran Church at Lake Mills, Iowa, she attended elementary school in Leland and graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1950. On May 5, 1951, she married Robert O’Dean Langfald at the Center Lutheran Church.
A farmgirl, JoAnn enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing with friends, socializing with her family, and cooking wonderfully delicious meals. Although she volunteered for many organizations, she felt most passionate about the time she spent with the Hospice Organization. After farming in rural Forest City for over fifty years, she and Bob moved to Mason City in 2004. A member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, Iowa, she entered the Heritage Care Center in 2015 where she resided until her passing. JoAnn will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
JoAnn leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of sixty-eight years, Robert Langfald; her daughter, Diane (Langfald) Zuehlke, of Mason City; her son, Dan Langfald, and his wife, Kim, of Forest City; two grandchildren, Joe (Lindsay) Langfald, of Forest City, and Joshua Langfald; five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lois Webster, of Charles City, Iowa; as well as three nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Julia Olson; an infant sister, Beverly Diane, and a grandson, Christopher.
The family of JoAnn would like to thank Heritage Care Center in Mason City and Hospice for the wonderful care she received.
