Jerry Alan Arnevik
August 9, 1938 ~ March 19, 2019

Jerry Alan Arnevik was born to Selmer and Myrtle (Hamsund) Arnevik at the Irish Hospital in Forest City, Iowa, on August 9, 1938. A graduate of Lake Mills High School, he married Muriel Quisling in July of 1956, a marriage that blessed his life with three sons: Dan, Scott, and Brad; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition, Jerry had special father-like bonds with Randy Goetz of Buffalo Center, Iowa, and Torstein Schee of Oslo, Norway.

Jerry lived in the Lake Mills and Thompson areas for most of his life. Known wherever he went for his outgoing personality, an infectious smile no one could resist, and his generosity to those less fortunate, he could easily start conversations with complete strangers. Moreover, he loved fishing, cowboy boots that fit like a glove, great coffee, and fine scotch whiskey.

Jerry held numerous jobs over the years in manufacturing, sales, and banking. In fact, he used to joke that he never could hold a steady job. Nonetheless, he had a real passion and love for agriculture. Indeed, he farmed in the Thompson area for many years before retiring in 2001.

After Jerry married his current wife, Cindy, they retired to the Troy, Missouri, area in 1999. Nevertheless, he still came back each spring and fall to help with planting and harvest, telling his Missouri friends at the local coffee shop he was going up north to supervise. During this time, he, also, became an avid St. Louis Cardinals’ fan.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Cindy, of Troy, Missouri; his sons, Dan (Lonnie) and Brad (Holly), both of Thompson, Iowa; his daughter-in-law, Mary Beth McEuen, of Chesterfield, Missouri; six grandchildren: Tena (Matt) Arnevik Frank, of St. Louis, Missouri, Ryan (Melissa) Arnevik, of Centerville, Iowa, Missy (Andy) Wohldmann, of O’Fallon, Missouri, Kayla (Cole) Fister, of Bondurant, Iowa, Maddie Arnevik, of Mason City, Iowa, and Lexie Arnevik of Thompson, Iowa; his great grandchildren: Tyler Arnevik; Jacob, Hannah, and Luke Frank, all of St. Louis, Missouri; Alaina, Averie and Ayden Arnevik, of Centerville, Iowa, Alix, Morgan, and Brady Wohldmann, of O’Fallon, Missouri, and Jones and Ari Fister, of Bondurant, Iowa; and one great-great-granddaughter Abrielle Arnevik of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters, Sylvia (Mark) Gulick, of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Sara (Maynard) Stensrud, of Waseca, Minnesota; and a brother, Marlin (Mary), of Melbourne, Florida, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; a son Scott, and a sister, Sandra Arnevik.

Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, Iowa, 2019.
