Marian Farrow
August 29, 1928 - November 13, 2018A daughter of Dick and Mary (Winter) Murra, Marian Farrow was born in rural Buffalo Center on August 29, 1928. Growing up on the farm with her ten siblings, she attended country school through the eighth grade.
After completing her education, she became a caretaker for her parents, a position she held until she married Verdon Farrow on May 28, 1967, in Titonka. Their union was blessed with two boys, Gary and Keith. She and Verdon farmed north of Titonka. Before moving to Buffalo Center in 1971, she helped Verdon on the farm while also working as an aid for many years at the hospital in Buffalo Center.
Marian enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, quilting, sewing, embroidering, playing games and cards, and babysitting. In 1992, she traveled with Verdon to see her son, Keith, in Germany, a highlight of her life. In addition, she, always, looked forward to spending time with her sister, Grace, and sister-in-law, Gert, playing rummikub. All in all, Marian loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marian, age 90, died on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at the Timely Mission Nursing Home, Buffalo Center.
She is survived by her two sons, Gary (Marcia) Farrow, of Lakota, and Keith (Tanja) Farrow, of Temple, Texas; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and her sisters, Grace Jurgens and Arlene Thorland; as well as by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Verdon, in 2009; her parents; and her siblings: Willie, John, Clarence, Arnold, Dick, Connie, Richard, and Helen.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, November 16, 2018, at the First Baptist Church, Buffalo Center. Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at the Oakcrest Funeral Services, Winter Chapel, Buffalo Center.
