Harold Everett Book
July 21, 1934 - December 19, 2018

Harold Everett Book, 84, of Forest City, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at his home in Forest City.

Harold was born on July 21, 1934, in Forest City, Iowa, to Otto and Ida (Martinson) Book. He attended school up until the 8th grade after which he took up working full-time on the family farm. On January 10, 1953, Harold married the love of his life, Marlys (Everson) Book, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, and to this union four children were born.

In addition to farming, Harold worked for many years at Winnebago Industries. The last several years of his life, he spent working at the Walking Eagle Ranch, caring for the land and tending to the pumpkin patch, jobs which he, thoroughly, enjoyed. He took pride in having contributed to the Walking Eagle Relay for Life event held every fall. Harold enjoyed farming, fishing, working outside, feeding birds, visiting with friends and family, and fixing anything, especially “the bus” he custom made and farm machinery he would re-vamp.

Harold is survived by his sister, Violet Charlson; his children: Allan Book, of Forest City, Linda Levang, of Fertile, and Floyd (Rene) Book, also of Fertile; his grandchildren: Chad Koester and Aric Koester, both of Arlington, Minnesota, Angie (Chris) Lines, of Marble Rock, Laura (Travis) Schleusner, of Garner, Stephanie (Neil) Daugard, of Britt, Kara (Andy) DeWitt, of Hanlontown, Maria (Lance) Heimer, of Forest City, Kia McFarland, of Algona, Phillip McFarland, of Fenton, and Angela Book, of Fertile; his great-grandchildren: Korra Marr; Taylor and Austin Koester; Harper and Rylee Lines; Trevor, Josie, and Cooper Schleusner; and Lynnley, Savannah, and Everett Daugard; and Dalton, Pyper, Xavier, and Scarlett DeWitt.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marlys; his daughter, Debra; his parents; and several special brothers and sisters and their spouses.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 246 South Clark Street, Forest City, with Pastor Zech Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the services at the church on Saturday morning. Burial will follow in the Madison Township Cemetery, rural Forest City. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes gifts to be given to the Walking Eagle Relay for Life Memorial Fund.

Cataldo Schott Funeral Home, Forest City, Iowa, 2018.
