June 2, 1929 - May 23, 2018Harriet J. Thompson, age 88 of Lake Mills, died on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.
Harriet Jeanette Thompson was born on June 2, 1929, in Buffalo Center, Iowa, to Oscar and Jennie (Krull) Enderson. Baptized at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Lake Mills, she attended country school and graduated from the Buffalo Center High School. On December 19, 1953, Harriet married Marlin O. Thompson. They, first, made their home near Mansfield, Minnesota, and later on a farm northeast of Scarville. After Marlin became ill in 1977, the family moved into a home in Lake Mills.
Over the years, Harriet worked at Deluxe Plastics, the Lake Mills Care Center, and Fleetguard Industries, retiring in 1995. An active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Scarville, she attended services whenever she could. She enjoyed spending time with her family, having coffee with her sisters, and visiting with friends.
Harriet is survived by her three children: Ann (Butch) Thompson, of Madill, Oklahoma, and Bonnie and Bruce Thompson, both of Lake Mills; four grandchildren: Gary, Jake (Genna), Jenny, and Zachary Thompson; and three great grandchildren: Beau, JD, and Karlie Thompson; her siblings and their spouses: Ernest (Romelle) Enderson, of Northwood, Iowa, Rosella Ullestad, of Hanlontown, Iowa, Wayne (Barb) Enderson, of Tyler, Minnesota, and Ida Rhine, of Mason City, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Enderson, of Lake Mills; as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marlin; two brothers, Severt Enderson, in infancy, and Elvin Enderson; a sister, Leona Enderson; and two brothers-in-law, Jonas Ullestad and Marlyn Rhine.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills. Inurnment will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Scarville, Iowa.
