September 26, 1934 ~ May 8, 2018 (age 83)

F. Elizabeth "Liz" Olson, age 83, of Cannon Falls, died on Tuesday morning, May 8, 2018, at the Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri.

A daughter of Walter and Frances (Jacobson) Carson, Liz was born on September 26, 1934, in Forest City, Iowa. In 1952, she graduated from Forest City High School. After attending Waldorf College, she enrolled in nursing school at the Lutheran Deaconess Hospital in Minneapolis where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1956. Subsequently, she worked for the Lutheran Deaconess and the hospitals in Litchfield and Paynesville during her career. In March of 1957, Liz met James “Jim” Olson, and later that year, the two began dating. On June 21, 1958, Liz and Jim married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City. For the last twenty years, she and Jim volunteered at working on church camps, helping build churches, and aiding victims of natural disasters such as hurricanes Katrina and Ike. Liz would paint or do other odd jobs alongside of her husband.

In her leisure time, Liz loved to read and travel. Moreover, she enjoyed attending concerts and taking long walks daily, and most notably, she treasured spending time with her family, especially at Christmas.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; her daughter, Susan (Aaron) Topp; her son, Thomas (Debbie) Olson; her grandchildren, Alexys Topp and Dylan Olson; and her brother, Philip (Darlene) Carson. Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Walter Carson; and her sister, Ruth Perry.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Celebration Church, 16655 Kenyon Avenue, Lakeville, Minnesota. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018, again at Celebration Church with additional time for visitation from 12:30 until the time of the service. Following a lunch, interment will take place in Lakeside Cemetery in Randolph Township, Dakota County, Minnesota.
