Darlene J. Wentworth, 75, of Forest City, died on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A daughter of Harm and Jenny (Luppen) Vrieze, Darlene Jeanette Wentworth was born on July 4, 1941, in Kanawha, Iowa. She attended school in Thompson, graduating from Thompson High School in 1959. On July 10, 1963, she married to Douglas Wentworth in Emmons, Minnesota. To their union, two children, Mark and Lisa, were born. After working at various banks, she accepted a position as a teller at MBT Bank, a job she held for many years. Then, she moved on to work in Customer Service at Winnebago. A member of the Forest City United Methodist Church, she participated in many activities through the years.

In addition to her passion for cross-stitching, Darlene enjoyed golfing, camping, cooking, baking, and cruising with Doug in their vintage cars as well as gardening in her younger years. She, also, liked spending the winters in Arizona, which she and Doug did for over ten years. Darlene treasured her family, and she, especially, enjoyed the time she spent with her grandkids. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Doug, of Forest City; two children, Mark (Sandra) Wentworth, of Oxford, North Carolina, and Lisa (Steve) Sunkle, of Forest City; her grandchildren: Tyler (Gail) Sungram; Autumn, Hunter, and Zach (Caroline) Sunkle; and Douglas and Carey Wentworth; a great-grandchild, Zanerick Sunkle; and a brother, Dwayne (Evelyn) Vrieze, of Forest City; as well as by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at the United Methodist Church in Forest City with Pastor Les Green officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark Street, Forest City, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the Darlene Wentworth memorial fund in care of the family.
