Thelma Senora Brunsvold
December 09, 1917 - June 08, 2017Thelma Senora Brunsvold, age 99, of Lake Mills, died on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at the Lake Mills Care Center of complications of dementia.
A daughter of George and Minnie (Sunsvold) Sanvik, Senora Brunsvold was born on December 9, 1917, in rural Silver Lake Township, Worth County, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, she received her education at country school in rural Silver Lake Township. She married Eldon Brunsvold, and to their marriage, one daughter. Donna, was born on March 8, 1939.
A hard worker, Senora took great pride in the appearance of her home and the quality of her cooking. As a farmwife, she spent her days preparing food for the men and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. In addition, she worked for many years at Deluxe, later known as Fleetguard, retiring in on July 1, 1980. A member of Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett, she attended worship service for many years at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. Moreover, she, actively, participated in circle and Ladies Aid, now known as WELCA. In November 2009, Senora entered the Lake Mills Care Center, her new home.
Survivors include two grandsons, Kevin Chose and Jeff (Sheila) Chose; and three great granddaughters, Taylor, Krystal (Adam), and Abby; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Senora is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldon, in 1978; her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Roger Chose; her sisters and their spouses: Gilma Pyle Carey and her husbands, Cleo Pyle and Orville Carey, Margaret and Jimmy McQuatters, Gladys and Charles Anderson, Arlene and Raymond Alitz, Eleanor and Chester Stomley, and Lorraine Sanvik, in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery, PO Box 38, Kensett, Iowa 50448.
A memorial service for Senora will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at the Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kensett, Iowa. Visitation will be at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home for one hour before service time.
