Nancy Lee (Doty) Brandt
September 13, 1932 - May 18, 2017

Nancy Lee Brandt, 84, of Forest City, formerly of Titonka, died on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at the Hospice of North Iowa Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Nancy Lee Brandt was born on September 13, 1932, near Rodman, Iowa, to Roy and Minnie (Kober) Doty. She received her early education from the Rodman Consolidated Public Schools and graduated from West Bend High School in 1950. She, then, worked as a store clerk in West Bend for the next six years.

Nancy met her future husband, Alvin Brandt, at a ballroom, and they married on January 15, 1956. They, then, moved to Titonka to live on the Brandt family farm where they raised dairy cows, pigs, and chickens as well as row crops. Nancy always helped around the farm and had a vegetable garden providing canned vegetables for the family. In 2006, they moved to Forest City, and after Alvin passed away, Nancy became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Forest City.

A Skip-Bo fanatic, Nancy had an engaging sense of humor. She enjoyed her time with her friends in Titonka and in Forest City. Most of all, however, she valued her family and enjoyed spending time with them at Sunday family dinners and viewing family pictures and videos posted on Facebook. Nancy loved the time they spent wintering in Arizona, visiting her sisters in Missouri and California, and visiting the Grotto of the Redemption in West Bend.

She is survived by her children, Gary Brandt, of Forest City, Iowa, Judy (Brad) Colschen, of Gales Ferry, Connecticut, and Becky (Mark) Stumme, also, of Forest City, Iowa; her grandchildren, Chris Colschen, Liz (Bryan) Young, Jackie (Troy) Seekamp, Jennifer (Chad) Beyer, and James Stumme and special friend (Leah Neal); her great-grandchildren, Ryan Steenhoek, Ian Beyer and Brooklyn and Jackson Seekamp; and her sister, Betty Shank; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and her special friend, Marie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin, in 2008; an infant son, David; an infant daughter, Tami; her brothers, Raymond, Shirley, and John Doty; her sisters, Lulu Belle "Toots" Morey, Ella Mae "Tell" Proctor, and Donna Butler, as well as by a great-grandson, Brandon Seekamp

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Titonka, with the Pastor S. Kim Peterson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, May 22, 2017, at Oakcrest Funeral Services, Titonka. Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
