Rodney E. Westerberg, 81, of Forest City, died on Friday, May 19, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.

Rodney Enose Westerberg, a son of Rollie and Ruth (Tweeten) Westerberg, was born on November 27, 1935, in Forest City, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, he remained a life-long member and served at one time on the board of trustees. In later years, he, faithfully, listened to Immanuel services on the radio.

Raised east of Forest City, he graduated from Forest City High School in 1953. On October 30, 1955, he married Rogene Baughman at Clear Lake, Iowa. A life-long farmer, he took pride in caring for the land and harvesting a crop. He liked going on tractor rides, an activity which he pursued up until his health failed. In addition, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will, indeed, be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Rogene; his sons, Kevin (Paulette) Westerberg, Glenn (Georgenia Barton) Westerberg, and Jay (Melanie) Westerberg; his daughters, Lori (Doug) Dedrick and Paula (Aaron) Rasche; four granddaughters, Jill, Lisa, Sophie, and Lilly; seven grandsons, John, Robby, Riley, Jordan, Reid, Colton, and Landon; two sisters, Marjorie Olson and Muriel Lowenberg; and eight great-grandchildren; as wel as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Dana, in 1979; two brothers; one sister; and his beloved dog, Speedy.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, with Pastors Zech Anderson and Rod Hopp officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark Street, Forest City, Iowa 50436, and again for one hour before the service at the church Wednesday. Burial will follow in the Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Rodney Westerberg memorial fund in care of the family.
