Joyce Imler
January 05, 1957 - December 17, 2016

Surrounded by her family, Joyce Ilene Imler, 59, of Lake Mills, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society in Forest City, Iowa.

Joyce, a daughter of Floyd and Ruth (Smith) Betts, was born on January 5, 1957, in Guthrie Center, Iowa. She grew up in Bayard, Iowa, graduating from Bayard High School in 1975. On February 14, 1976, she married her high school sweet heart, David Imler, at the Church of Christ in Bagley, Iowa. They made their home in Lake Mills where they raised their two children April and Joshua. For nearly thirty years, Joyce worked for Dielectric.

Joyce was a caring person who had a heart to love and serve others. She enjoyed spending time with her family and always looked forward to family gatherings, especially at Christmas time. Of course, she loved her grandchildren, making them the center of her life. A constant presence in their lives, she became known as “Grammy.” Nevertheless, as a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, she, always, placed her faith in the Lord first in her life. Indeed, she spent countless hours praying for those she loved in her “quiet time.”

Joyce is survived by her husband, David, of Lake Mills; her two children, April (Michael) Gambell, of Forest City, and their two children, Faith Ilene and Hunter Dean; and Joshua (Jackie) Imler, of Lake Mills, and their two children, Delaney Ann and Pearl Ruth; her mother- and father-in-law, Dean and Shirley Imler, of Jefferson, Iowa; her brothers, Larry (Sharon) Betts, of Fremont, Nebraska, and David (Linda) Betts, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; her sisters, Dana (Wally) Rowcliffe, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, and Julie Betts, of Perry, Iowa; her brothers-in-law, Dan (Gaye) Imler, of Bayard, Iowa, and Harold Cook, of Peoria, Illinois; her sister-in-law Kim, (Art) Jacobson, of Jefferson, Iowa; and her sister in Christ, Joyce Sherman; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and Prayer Warriors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ruth, and a sister, Mary Cook.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, December 22, 2016, at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 107 E Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, with Pastor Rob Lanphere officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, and again for one hour before the service at the church. Her body will be cremated after the funeral service and inurnment will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery in Lake Mills at a later date.
