Thelma S. Dahl, 92, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died on Wednesday, February 07, 2007, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa, where she had resided since June, 2002.

Thelma Signe Borgina Honsey was born on May 18, 1914, in Norway Township, Winnebago County, Iowa, the daughter of Oliver and Nelsine (Stene) Honsey. Baptized and confirmed at the Lime Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, she became a lifetime member. In addition, she attended Lime Creek Christian Day School. On December 17, 1934, Thelma married Bjarne Edwin Dahl at Thornton, Iowa. They farmed many years in the Northwood-Emmons area.

Thelma enjoyed horses, gardening, and flowers. For many years, she raised and sold strawberries, tomatoes, and cucumbers, and she mowed the lawn at the Lime Creek Cemetery as well. Moreover, she and Bjarne loved to spend time fishing at their trailer in Northern Minnesota, and they, also, enjoyed camping.

Her survivors include a daughter, Ruth (Eugene) Hermanson, of Lake Mills, Iowa; a son, Allan (Jackie) Dahl, of Joice, Iowa; five grandchildren, Rick Hermanson, of Iowa City, Iowa, Karil (Bob) Anderson, of Leland, Iowa, Shane (Dawn) Dahl, of Clarks Grove, Minnesota, Jay (Erin) Dahl, of Boone, Iowa, and Travis (Karen) Dahl, of Sandy, Utah; eight great grandchildren, Nikki and Sarah Bell; Eli and Ethan Dahl; Sondra (Nicholas) Doty; Kelly (Ryan) Meislahn; Dana and Ryan Oudekerk; Mindy (Craig) Smith; four great-great grandchildren, Kimberly Meislahn, Isaiah Oudekerk, Riley Smith, and Drew Sorenson; a brother, Rudolph (Betty) Honsey; two sisters, Barbara Chrz and Naomi Dakken; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Honsey; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bjarne, in 1995; a granddaughter, Kimberly Oudekerk, in 1983; a great-great granddaughter, Jasmine Oudekerk; two brothers, Conrad and Joseph Honsey; and two brothers-in-law, Woodrow Chrz and Neville Dakken.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2007, at the Lime Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, Iowa, with Rev. Karl Hermanson officiating. Burial will take place in the Lime Creek Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, February 9, 2007, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, and will continue for one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
