Vera L. Bronleewe
October 26, 1928 - July 23, 2016

Vera Leone Bronleewe, a daughter of John and Minnie (Ennenga) Alberts, was born on October 26, 1928, in Buffalo Center. She grew up in Buffalo Center where she attended school. After graduating from the Buffalo Center High School, she began teaching in a country school.

On August 10, 1948, Vera married Robert Bronleewe in Buffalo Center. They, then, lived and farmed northeast of Buffalo Center before moving into town.

Vera taught piano lessons for sixty-four years from 1950 to 2014. In addition, she played organ and piano at the Baptist Church during Sunday services and for funerals and weddings when asked. Moreover, she enjoyed playing at community events and regularly played at area nursing homes. An active member of the First Baptist Church, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, working in Awana, and serving as she could.

Vera died on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Hospice of North Iowa Inpatient Unit in Mason City. She was 87.

She is survived by her children, Becky and Larry Gruis, of Pana, Illinois, and Wayne Bronleewe, of Buffalo Center; her granddaughter, Shauna Gruis; her sister, Joanne Stark, of Bloomington, Minnesota; her brother, Gary (Pat) Alberts, of West Bend; and her sisters-in-law, Darlene Alberts, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and Loretta (Bernard) Aunan, of West Des Moines; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, on January 9, 2008; her brother, Charles Alberts; her brother-in-law, Donald Stark, and her sister-in-law, Ruth (Bruce) Whitmore.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Ware officiating. Burial will follow in the Olena Mound Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at the Winter Funeral Home.
