September 1, 1938 - March 26, 2016

William Kirschbaum, Sr., 77, of Leland, died on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at his home.

William Kirschbaum, a son of Raymond and Lucille (Gelner) Kirschbaum, was born on September 1, 1938, in rural Hayfield, Iowa. For thirty years, Bill owned and operated K & C Electric Plumbing and Heating before selling the business to his sons. He liked hunting, fishing, and collecting many things. He enjoyed his many fishing trips up north with his buddies and also a memorable trip to Alaska with his son, Mike.

Bill loved making things out of metal and wood as well as helping his wife outside with the many flowers and garden work. He and his wife, also, liked traveling to many places until his health did not allow it.

He was a member of the Isaac Walton League, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Leland, and Pheasants Forever. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling a good joke. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bill is survived by his wife, Esther; his children, Bill Kirschbaum, Jr., and his wife, Sarah; Mike Kirschbaum, and his wife, Carol; Brenda Pritchard, and her husband, Larry; and Laurie Kirschbaum, and her friend, Casey St. John; his step-children, Lori Ranes, and her husband, Tim; David and Gary Taylor, and Gary's wife, Xiaoming; his brothers, Jim Kirschbaum, and his wife, Janice; and Lester Kirschbaum; as well as by many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Kirschbaum; and many aunts and uncles.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark Street, Forest City. As he wished, his remains were cremated and there will be no formal visitation. Memorials may be directed to the William Kirschbaum, Sr., memorial fund in care of the family.
