Thomas A. Tveit, 93, of Lake Mills, Iowa, formerly of Kiester, Minnesota, died on Friday, November 20, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa.

Thomas Adrian Tveit was born on November 12, 1922, to Oscar and Annette (Nettie Kilen) Tveit in Lake Mills, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kiester, Minnesota, he attended country school near Kiester and later graduated from Kiester High School. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran and Our Saviors Lutheran Church.

On October 19, 1947, Thomas married Shirley Elaine Johnson at the Winnebago Lutheran Church in rural Lake Mills, Iowa. He farmed all of his life in the Kiester area, worked at the Kiester Sales Barn, and also drove gravel truck.

Thomas enjoyed many different activities including hunting for arrowheads, pheasant and fox hunting, playing ball, and looking at and working on antique farm equipment.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Shirley; his two children, Thomas (Bushhog) Tveit, Jr., and Fay, and her husband, Stan Domaszewski; his grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Brekken, Julie Folie, Terry Tveit; and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Tveit; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth and Marilyn Johnson; along with many nieces and nephews.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, George and Orvin; his sisters-in-law, Donna, Dorothy, and Corine Tveit and Anita Grunhuvd; his brothers-in-law, Andrew and Walter Johnson; and three nephews, Steven Johnson and George and Steven Tveit.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester, Minnesota, with Pastor Katie Pals officiating. Family will greet friends at the church from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM, Tuesday, prior to the service. Thomas’ ashes will be scattered at a later date.
