July 3, 1921 - October 26, 2015Obed Ingvald Hope, 94, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015, at the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois.
Obed Hope, a son of the late Oscar and Ingeborg (née Sands) Hope, was born on July 3, 1921, in Grant Township, Winnebago County, Iowa.
During World War II, Obed valiantly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Seamen, 1st Class, on the USS Spencer. On November 29, 1952, he married Mary Pfister. He and Mary, then, resided in Chicago, Illinois, where he, for the next forty-five years, made his career as an Auto Body and Fender Technician. He was a member of Automobile Mechanics, Local 701.
Obed is survived by his son, Ronald (Sandy) Hope, of Des Plaines, Illinois, and Papa of Diane (Mike) Yunker, Eric (Susie) Hope, and Katie (Josh) Nelson, Great Papa of Julia Yunker and cherished brother of Gladys Olson, of Forest City, Iowa, and George Hope, of Ogden, Iowa; as well as by many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Pilot Knob Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Snitzer officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will follow in the Crystal Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a Hospice Care of your choice.
