Muriel Eloise Schiltz
(July 14, 1932 - July 31, 2015)

Muriel E. Schiltz, 83, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died on Friday, July 31, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.

Muriel Eloise (Belville) Schiltz, a daughter of Harold and Olga (Lindell) Belville, was born on July 14, 1932, in Ceylon, Iowa. After the death of their mother, the children were raised by their grandmother, Ida Johnson. Muriel graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1950.

In 1952, Muriel married Robert Rogstad at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa. She lived on the Rogstad family farm west of Lake Mills for fifty years. After the death of her first husband, she married John Schiltz on June 14, 1969. She spent the last three years of her life at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Muriel worked at the Cool Springs Canning Company, at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, for Wilson’s in Albert Lea, Minnesota, at the Lake Mills Community School, and at the Lake Mills Care Center.

She enjoyed solving puzzles, watching western shows, doing word searches, watching birds on her bird feeders, and spending time with her family.

Muriel will be missed by her family which includes her children, Monica Brooks, of Ignacio, Colorado, Dennis (Darla) Rogstad and Carol (Dave) Tiedman, both of Lake Mills, Iowa, Kim (Russ) Johnson, of Northwood, Iowa, and James (Janelle) Schiltz, of Ventura, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren, Shane and Ryan Brooks, of Durango, Colorado, Robert (Karla) Rogstad, of Lake Mills, Iowa, Brad (Kait) Rogstad, of Chicago, Illinois, Sara (Jake) Miller, of Grundy Center, Iowa, Josh (Ivy) Tiedman, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Myja, Wyatt, Mikayla, Eli, Jacob, and Isaiah Johnson, all of Northwood, Iowa, and Nathan Schiltz, of Ventura, Iowa; three great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Kaleb Rogstad and McCoy Miller; and her brothers and sisters, Donald (Ruth), Robert, and Darrel (Karen) Belville; LaVonne Holstad; Mildred Huna; and Helen Mikel.

Muriel was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert; her parents, Harold and Olga; her step-mother, Anna; two sisters, Ruby and Darlene; one step-sister, Patricia; and two brothers, Dick and Marvin Belville; as well as by many other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM, Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, with Pastor Melinda McCluskey officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, two hours prior to the service, on August 11, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills, Iowa.
