Luella Hagedorn
May 3, 1927 - June 17, 2015

Luella Hagedorn, 88, of Buffalo Center, Iowa, died on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center.

Luella was born on May 3, 1927, to John and Alvena (Engelbarts) Johnson in Ledyard, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church also in Ledyard, she received her education in Ledyard as well.

She married Melbourne Hagedorn on December 30, 1946. Together, they farmed near Elmore, Minnesota, until 1989 when they retired and moved to Buffalo Center. First a member of Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church, she, later, joined the Buffalo Center First Reformed Church. In 2013, Luella became a resident of the Timely Mission Nursing Home, Buffalo Center, where she passed away.

Luella, always, put her family first. She loved her husband with whom she shared so much. They did everything together. Among other activities, they, very much, enjoyed dancing. She loved raising roses, and she loved her dogs, most recently Sugar. Above all, however, she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family and friends will remember her for her strong will and determination, never letting her wheel chair stop her from doing what she enjoyed most, cooking and baking.

Luella is survived by her children: John (Louise) Hagedorn, of Rake, Betty (Brad) Ingalls, of Kasota, Minnesota, Mark Hagedorn, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Rick (Brenda) and Larry (Roberta) Hagedorn, of Lakota, and Jan Hagedorn, of Mankato, Minnesota; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a sister, Viola Albers, of Woden; a brother, Duane Johnson, of Algona; a brother-in-law, Amos “Buster” Kessel, of Lanesboro, Minnesota; and three sisters-in-law, LaDonna Johnson, of Blue Earth, and Lillian and Ramona Johnson, of Ledyard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son in birth; a great granddaughter, her brothers, Glen, Raymond, Ervin, Evert, Rueben, and Merl; and her sisters, Laura Willey, Alice Nauman, and Helen Kessel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, at the First Reformed Church, 401 First St. SW, Buffalo Center, with Pastor Bill Peake officiating. Burial will be at Highland Home Cemetery in Ledyard, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, at the church and also one hour before the service Monday.
