(May 19, 1958 - February 27, 2015)Jodean “Jody” Brighton, 56, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2015, at her home in rural Lake Mills, Iowa.
Jodean “Jody” Ann Brighton, a daughter of Dean and JoAnn Wilson, was born on May 19th, 1958, in Oakland, California. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Elementary School in Manchester, Iowa. Later on, she graduated from West Delaware High School also in Manchester, Iowa, and then from Hamilton Business College in Mason City with high honors.
On February 6th, 1989, Jody married the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Brighton. They resided in Lake Mills where they raised a family of five children. A loving and doting mother and grandmother, she considered her children her greatest accomplishment. A free spirit, she enjoyed gardening, games, and above all the company of others. A very spiritual woman, she bolstered her firm belief in the power of God by reading her Bible daily. Indeed, her spirituality readily manifested itself in her deep friendships. A second mother to many as well as a loved and precious treasure to us all, she will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald; her children, Jeremy Wilson, of Lake Mills; Carey Jo (Kevin) Klocek, of Rosemount, Minnesota, Tiffany (Cody) Rognes and Kinley, of Ankeny, Iowa, and Hilary (Brett Nickson), of Lake Mills, Iowa; her parents, Dean and JoAnn Wilson, of Manchester, Iowa; and her brothers, Dean C. “Deatsie” (Becky) Wilson, of Riviera, Texas, and Jon (Teresa) Wilson, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; as well as numerous other loving relatives.
She is preceded in death by a son, Tyler; her grandparents, Ed and Cassie Wilson and Al and Margaret Spielmann; and her cherished parents-in-law, Melvin and Margaret Brighton; as well as by numerous beloved friends and family members.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lake Mills, Iowa, with Rev. Paul Lippstock officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday evening, with a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at St. Patrick‘s Catholic Cemetery in rural Lake Mills, Iowa.
