April 23, 1914 - November 14, 2005

Florence I. Carlson Hope, age 91, of Forest City, died on Monday, November 14, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2005, at 1:30 PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Leland, Iowa, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Forest City. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at the funeral home and an hour prior to services at the church. Florence I. Carlson Hope was born in Forest City, Iowa, on April 23, 1914, a daughter of Theodore and Ida (Friest) Tobiason. Baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, she received her education at the Landru Country School near her home.

On November 27, 1937, Florence married Odin Carlson. The couple farmed near Leland for many years. After Odin died in 1981, Florence stayed on the farm until she moved to Forest City in 1989.

On December 18, 1991, Florence married Edward Hope. He passed away in 1993. A member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Leland, she was active in Circle and Ladies Aid. She entered the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City in September, 2005 where she remained until she expired.

Florence is survived by her children: Darlene Carson, and her husband, Philip, of Leland, Iowa, Beverly Roberts, and her husband, Ronald, of Hanlontown, Iowa, and Bruce Carlson, and his wife, Susan, of Petersburg, Illinois; six grandchildren: Craig Carson, of Grapevine, Texas, Mark Carson, and his wife, Alice, of Northfield, Minnesota, Ann Brcka, and her husband, Keith, of Fertile, Iowa, Warren Westcott, and his wife, Julie, of Chaska, Minnesota, Wendy Wescott, of Eagan, Minnesota, and Paul Carlson, of Jonesboro, Arkansas; his great-grandchildren: Brian and Carrie Brcka; Kealy Carlson; Brandon, Steve, and Sandy Carson; and Molly and Hank Westcott; his step-grandchildren: Kari Gothro, and her husband, Steve, of Portland, Oregon, and Scott Roberts, of Mason City, Iowa; and her step-great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Garrett Gothro and Carter and Kaitlyn Roberts.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Odin Carlson; her second husband, Edward Hope, and a brother, Walter Tobiason.
