January 8, 1956 - June 16, 2014

Surrounded by his family, Robert "Bob" F. Levad, 58, of Forest City, died peacefully at his home on Monday, June 16, 2014.

Robert Francis Levad was born on January 8, 1956, in Forest City, Iowa, a son of Elmer G. and Marie L. (Drugg) Levad. He attended Forest City Schools, graduating in 1974. Then, he studied computer technology at Iowa State University (ISU).

A long-time resident of Crystal Lake, Bob enjoyed working at El-San in Crystal Lake where he met many lifelong friends. In addition, he always played an active role in the community. A member of the Fire Department and First Responders, he served a term as mayor. Having finally caught Debra, he married her on October 5, 1991. In 2001, he and Deb moved to Forest City.

He always enjoyed working with computers and staying connected with the newest technology. He and his brother were forever dragging stuff home from many a ham radio event. Moreover, at Winnebago Industries, he worked in the Information Technology Department.

Pete, a family nickname, enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, star gazing, camping, and spending time at the "Outpost". Having had a pilot's license for many years, he also enjoyed flying.

Bob had a great sense of humor and was known for always having a good joke. He enjoyed the times he spent with his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bob is survived by his wife, Debra Levad, of Forest City; two sons, Brandon and Brady Levad; his brothers, Dave (B.J.) Levad, of Yakima, Washington, Steve (Barb) Levad, of Washington, Joe Levad, of Mason City, Tom (Dorothy) Levad, of Wilton, Iowa, and Jim (Judy) Levad, of Forest City; his sisters, Mary (Eric) Lovstad, of Forest City, Sue (John) Baugus, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and Sharon (Mike) Bedig, of Watertown, Massachusetts; his sisters-in-law, Trena Levad, of Mason City, and Karen Levad, of Grand Junction, Colorado; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jeff (Virginia) Titus and Peggy (Scott) Henning; as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Chuck, Rich, and Eddy Levad, and his father- and mother-in-law, Derold "Jack" and Alice Titus.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 North Clark St., Forest City, Iowa, with a time of remembrance at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 20, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Rev. Rodd Hopp officiating. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Robert "Bob" Levad memorial fund in care of the family.
