August 11, 1931 - September 20, 2007FOREST CITY – Alice G. Lackore, 76, of Forest City, died on Thursday, September 20, 2007, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City following a brief battle with cancer.
Alice Gloria Lackore, the daughter of Walter George and Christina Inga (Tollefson) Ulve, was born on August 11, 1931, at Lake Mills. After graduating from Lake Mill High School in 1949, she worked at restaurants in Lake Mills and Forest City. On April 5, 1950, she married Duane Eugene Lackore at the Methodist parsonage in Forest City. They lived on a farm west of Forest City where they raised their family.
Alice loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. Her granddaughters have many fond memories of her having tea parties with them. She enjoyed visiting with people, tending her flowers, gardening, and “coffeeing” with her friends on Tuesday mornings. Nonetheless, she especially enjoyed serving others in the church and community.
An active member of the United Methodist Church and the UMW, Alice also belonged to the Madison Birthday Club, the Forest City American Legion Auxiliary, and TOPS.
Alice is survived by her husband, Duane, of Forest City; four children, Bradley, Brian (Valerie), and Kevin (June) Lackore, and Debra (Gene) Swanson, all of Forest City; ten grandchildren, Wayne Chute, Kelly (Cory) Hagensick, Anthony, Ashley, Jason (Kelly), Justin, and Melissa Lackore, Kristi (Gary) Smith, and Desirae and Audrey Swanson; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Luella (Loren) Bolstad, of Lake Mills; a brother, Vernon Ulve, of Lake Mills; and a sister-in-law, Alice Sarie, of El Paso, Texas; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Royden, Ellsworth, Marvin, and Wilford Ulve; and her sisters, Nora Larson and Dorothy Leegaard.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, September 22, 2007, at the United Methodist Church in Forest City with Rev. Jerry Swanberg officiating. Burial will be in Madison Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, September 21, 2007, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
