Selma Lucille (Wogen) Sime was born to Severin “Sam” and Berta Elisabet “Lizzie” (Wiig) Wogen on July 14, 1915, in Humboldt County, Iowa.

Baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church near Thor, Iowa, on August 29, 1915, Selma attended rural school in Humboldt and in the sixth grade moved with her parents to the Lake Mills area. Confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills by the Rev. O.R. Sletten, she received her education in the Scarville and Lake Mills schools. She graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1933. Selma, then, taught in rural schools in Winnebago County for six years. On March 26, 1939, she married Milton "Jim" Sime at Bethel Lutheran Church in Vinje, Iowa, with the Rev. S.J. Fretheim officiating.

They farmed in the Scarville-Vinje area for many years before retiring. Subsequently, they moved to Lake Mills. She and Milton worked hard on the farm both inside and outside. Together, they earned statewide recognition and awards for their champion dairy herds.

Selma and Milton were avid square dancers both locally and in Pharr, Texas, where they spent seventeen winters. Selma sewed many of her elaborate square dance dresses with shirts for Jim to match.

Selma enjoyed working with young people and served as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. A 4-H leader for a number of years, she also served in various capacities in the Farm Bureau Women’s Group, the Extension Council, and the women’s groups in her church.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was well known for her good nature and for her delicious cooking and baking.

In 2000, she moved to Mills Harbour. She enjoyed living there and made many friends. A resident of the Lake Mills Care Center for the past year, she also enjoyed the company of many friends there. In July, 2007, she was named Lake Mills Care Center Queen for the July Jubilee Parade.
