Ruth Bertina Boutelle Peterson
(November 20, 1905 - November 22, 2007)Ruth B. Peterson, age 102, of Northwood, died on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22, 2007, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
Ruth Bertina Boutelle Halvorson was born on November 20, 1905, in Bristol Township, Worth County, Iowa, to Christen and Annie (Halstensen) Brevig Halvorson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bristol Lutheran Church and attended Bristol Township Country School.
Ruth worked for some time at the Cool Springs Canning Company, as a waitress at the Grand Café, and as clerk for various stores. She also helped care for children in Lake Mills, and later, she cared for her aging parents. On November 22, 1974, Ruth married Clifford Arthur Peterson. They lived in Kensett where she was an active member of Elk Creek Lutheran.
Survivors include her daughter, LouAnn Campbell, of Lakeland, Florida; a grandson, Robert (Annette) Campbell, of Lakeland, Florida; two great grandsons, Trevor and Ian Campbell, of Lakeland, Florida; and two sisters-in-law, Mavis Halvorson Olson and Betty Halvorson Colby, both of Lake Mills, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford, on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1988; her son-in-law, Robert Campbell; six brothers, Henry, Almer, Inghart, Clarence, Arnold, and Joseph; a sister, Alyce Nelson; two sisters-in-law, Elvina and Bessie; and a nephew, Dennis Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett, Iowa, with Pastor Tom Martin officiating. Burial will take place in Elk Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
