Emma Hinz
December 25, 1927 - March 19, 2011

Emma Hinz, 83, passed away on Saturday March 19, 2011, as she had wished: at home in Buffalo Center.

Emma Margaret Hinz was born December 25, 1927, to Frank and Olive (Burnett) Dontje in rural Swea City, Iowa.

Emma married the love of her life, Roy E. Hinz, on April 24, 1949. They farmed their entire married life until they retired to Buffalo Center. They had three children: LeRoy, Duane, and Vicki.

Emma is survived by her husband, Roy, of Buffalo Center; three children: LeRoy and Teresa Hinz, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Duane and Janeen Hinz, of Buffalo Center, and Vicki Hinz and Tamar Prero, of Salt Lake City, Utah; her brothers, Henry (Martha) Dontje, of Ankeny, and David (Susan) Dontje, of Forest City; her sister, Viola Krull, of Buffalo Center; her grandchildren: Cory (Danika) Hinz, Jesse (Tracy) Hinz, Dana Hinz, Misty (Reid) Jensen, and Cory (Kari) Meusberger; her great-grandchildren: Mollie, Marena, and Eli Hinz; Addison, Alexander, and Genevieve Jensen; and Meah and Micah Meusberger; as well as other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Mack; a sister, Frances; a brother, August; and her mother- and father-in-law, William and Grace Hinz.

Roy and Emma could clear the dance floor as everyone loved to watch them dance. An exceptionally creative cook, she always remembered to prepare everyone’s favorites. She kept a spotless house even though we all tried to mess it up. She will be greatly missed.

The funeral will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at the First Reformed Church, Buffalo Center, with Pastor Bill Peake officiating. Burial will be at Olena Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center.

Emma's family invites you to her visitation on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Winter Funeral Home and on Tuesday one hour before the service at the church.
