William "Bill" Jurgens
(November 6, 1920 - February 10, 2011)

William “Bill” Jurgens, 90, of Buffalo Center, died Thursday, February 10, 2011, at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center.

William “Bill” Albert Jurgens was born November 6, 1920, on the family farm north of Buffalo Center to Joe and Hattie (Furst) Jurgens. He was welcomed by 2 sisters Fannie (Jacobs) and Anne (Krugel).

On December 10, 1946, he was united in marriage to Grace Murra at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Junction City, Kansas, where his brother-in-law Jack Krugel was the pastor. Their marriage was blessed by two children, Daniel and Nancy.

Bill loved farming, his job and his hobby. He especially loved raising livestock. Grace could always get him to go on vacation as long as she could promise him a salebarn at the other end. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. But most of all, he enjoyed his family. He took great pride in teaching all his grandchildren to drive.

In 2007, he retired from farming and moved to Buffalo Center. As his health kept him home, he enjoyed having coffee with the many friends and neighbors that he would invite to the house.

Having joined the First Baptist Church of Buffalo Center, Iowa, at age of thirteen, he became an active lifelong member. He also served as a Lincoln township trustee for many years.

Bill is survived by his wife, Grace; his son, Daniel, of Fairmont, Minnesota; his daughter, Nancy Klukow, and her husband, Doug, of Buffalo Center, Iowa; his grandchildren, Calista Jurgens and Carson Jurgens, of Fairmont, Minnesota, Joe Klukow, and wife, Erica, of Buffalo Center; and Gary Klukow, of Emmetsberg, Iowa. He also leaves two great-grand-daughters that always made him smile, Delayna and Kyla Klukow.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his three sisters, Fannie, Annie(infant), and Anne.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, February 14, 2011, at the First Baptist Church, Buffalo Center, with Pastor Steve Ware officiating. Interment will be at the Olena Mound Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, 3:00 to 5:00 P.M., at the Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center and one hour before the services at the church.
